Katya Apekina, Susan Nguyen, Michael Holladay

Katya Apekina is a novelist, screenwriter and translator. Her novel, The Deeper the Water the Uglier the Fish (Two Dollar Radio), was named a Best Book of 2018 by Kirkus, Buzzfeed, LitHub and others, and was a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize, semi-finalist for VCU Cabell First Novelist Award and Crook’s Corner Book Prize, and a winner of the 35 Over 35 Award. She has published stories in various literary magazines and translated poetry and prose for Night Wraps the Sky: Writings by and about Mayakovsky (FSG, 2008), short-listed for the Best Translated Book Award. Born in Moscow, she currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter.

Susan Nguyen hails from Virginia but currently lives and writes in Arizona. She received her MFA in poetry from Arizona State University. She is the recipient of fellowships from the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing and the Aleida Rodriguez Memorial Award. In 2018, she was featured on PBS NewsHour as “one of three women poets to watch” and she was a finalist for the Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry. Her work has appeared in Tin House, diagram, and elsewhere.

Michael Holladay is a queer writer and teacher born and raised in Kentucky. He received his MFA from Arizona State University. His fiction has appeared in North American Review, Gulf Coast, New World Writing, The Saint Ann’s Review, Fiction Southeast, and elsewhere. He currently lives in Arizona where he teaches writing at ASU.
